HOW TO REACH TAKA BONERATE MARINE PARK:

From Makassar to Bulukumba by bus (leaving in the morning / 5-6 hours)

Bus Terminal in Makassar - Mallengkeri (bus companies Aneka, Mahkota, Sumber Mas Murni) with prices IDR 100.000 (full AC) scheduled departure 08.30 Wita (Makassar time) – directly to Benteng (7-8 hours)

If not direct then: Bulukumba to Pamata Selayar harbour by ferry / 2 hours

Pamata to Benteng / 1.5 hours

Benteng to Rajuni Kecil (the nearest island) or to Tinabo Island / 5-6 hours

From Benteng Bus Station, use Ojek (motorcycle transportation) to get to the hotel. The Ojek will cost you about IDR 10.000 – 20.000.

BOAT from Benteng to Taka Bonerate

pay for the crew IDR 150.000 for cost if using a local boat for one person usually IDR 75.000 - IDR 80.000
but sometimes their time uncertain

ANOTHER OPTION TO REACH TAKA BONERATE:

Much cheaper solution to get to Taka Bonerate. From Benteng take a regular boat as normal passenger leaving for an island called Kayuadi, geographically it is still in the area of Taka Bonerate that leaves almost everyday. It costs Rp 70.000/passenger. From Kayuadi you can take boat leaving for Tinabo or Rajuni Island. Not regular but I hear that every week there is regular boat taking the merchants from Kayuadi to the islands around including Rajuni. I think the price is less than Rp. 50.000; Or you can hire the local fishermen boat to and from Tinabo or Rajuni Island. You can negotiate the price with them.

RAJUNI ISLAND

Rajuni Island is inhabited, if you like getting involved with local people daily activities Rajuni is a good choice.

There is no accommodation available but the tourists can stay with local families. It is recommended to stay around 4 days there to have enough time to explore.

TINABO ISLAND

At Taka Bonerate there is possibility also to stay in Tinabo Homestay or stay in Local people’s house, they like to host tourists and they only ask money for the meals.

NOTE: hire all diving equipment and the Dive Master at the National Sea Park Office.
